Hungry pilot casually lands his helicopter outside a McDonalds in Sydney

A chopper pilot named 'Dan' stops for Maccas in Sydney.

A pilot is under investigation after landing a helicopter on a grassy patch at a McDonald's in north-west Sydney in front of stunned onlookers.

"I thought it was an emergency," one person can be heard saying on the video footage shot on Saturday.

The pilot was seen exiting the aircraft and getting his order before getting back into the chopper and flying away.

Who need a drive-thru?

According to 9 News, Civil Aviation Safety Authority are investigating whether this was legal and if damages had incurred at the Rouse Hill branch.

They reported the pilot donated A$1000 ($1077) to Ronald McDonald House before admitting to flying the plane.
