Smugshot: Readers' travel photos of the week

This photo was taken in January 2016 in Rwanda at the Volcanoes National Park where we did a trek to see the mountain gorillas. We were lucky enough to get extremely close to a family that had this mother with a 2 month old baby. The gorillas got so close to us that a youngster even fell out of a tree onto my husband.

Do you have a holiday snap that you'd like to share with the world? Send it to us and be in to win a Fujifilm camera!

This shot was captured from the top of Mount Maunganui Summit in Tauranga, minutes after the sun had set. It was the day I'll never forget because it was the first time I climbed and reached the peak of a mountain. It was insanely beautiful that had to capture this very moment. This made me want to travel more.

This photo is amongst the thousands I took from the recent travels my wife and I did around the UK and Japan (both for the first time). Needless to say, I have been deeply captivated by the beauty of Edinburgh (arguably one of the most picturesque British city) and this is one of my personal favourites. I took this photo around sunset time from Carlton Hill which provides a magnificent view of the city. The photo is looking down and up the length of Princess Street showcasing some of Edinburgh’s iconic architectures – Scott’s Monument, Balmoral Hotel and Edinburgh Castle.

A real life 'Zebra crossing' through Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera in Tanzania. A reminder that we exist in a world belonging to the natural environment, not the other way around.

Stars over the 6,384 m mountain known as Ausangate, in the Peruvian Andes. Taken with an exposure of 30 seconds, using a tripod, after a day of hiking and before a night of camping in below-freezing temperatures. The region is practically tourist-free and the only occupants are local Quechua people and countless alpacas and llamas.

This photo was taken of an elderly Vietnamese sorting her colourful items for sale in Hoi An, Vietnam. She kept working and did not seem to mind my taking a quick photo as I walked by.

Such pristine water offering the most amazing snorkelling in the many reef pools and caves surrounding Niue. After a week here exploring by both land and sea we returned to Auckland quite water logged. This is my husband Paul viewing the ocean beyond the reef while I explore yet another clear pool in the reef with camera in tow.

Reaching the village of Yangshuo on the beautiful Li river in the Guangxi region of southern China. Flowing 437 kilometres towards the Southern China Sea, the Li river is highlighted spectacularly by karst limestone peaks. This magical scenery also appears on the 20 yuan note in China. Pictured is Sarah Baildon following a day trip along the river from the city of Guilin to the county of Yangshuo.

While on a tour of the Isle of Skye in August 20I5 I snapped this gorgeous wee house. This place has the most beautifully dramatic vibe about it, I love it.
