Warbird makes emergency belly landing at Ardmore Airport (Video)
Video has captured the moment the experienced pilot of a warbird made an emergency belly landing at Auckland's Ardmore Airport.
A full emergency was declared at Ardmore Airport on Wednesday afternoon after the pilot reported difficulties with the landing gear. Three fire crews and a water tanker were put on standby.
Police also cordoned off streets around the airfield.
A fire communications spokeswoman said the plane landed safely without landing gear about 2.40pm.
"The pilot is out and all systems are isolated".
Ardmore Airport manager Dave Marcellas said there was one person on board the plane, a T-28 Trojan.
The North American Aviation T-28 Trojan is a radial-engined trainer which was used by the US air force and navy from the 1950s.
