Sit back, relax and pretend as though you're at your dream Mexican holiday destination at these top restaurants.

1. The Flying Burrito Brothers - Albany and Newmarket

The Flying Burrito Brothers have a large range of traditional drinks.

There's so many food options to choose from, from nachos to tacos and 'big bites' if you're really hungry.

The drinks menu is to die for, with an impossibly large section of tequila and other traditional drinks to sip on.

In Newmarket, the funky decor, open space seamless indoor-outdoor flow and some of the best Margaritas in town makes this the perfect place for a night out.

In Albany, the Pueblo style decor with cheeky sombrero lamps and skull booths is a great place to get cosy.

2. Little Mexico Cantina and Tequila bar - 31 Wellesley St West, Auckland

There's over 60 tequilas to choose from at Little Mexico Cantina and Tequila bar.

The antique hand painted decor immediately makes you forget you're still in Auckland.

With over 60 tequilas to choose from, you'll be thinking you're in Mexico in no time.

Genuine margaritas are freshly made to order with the finest collection of tequila in Auckland.

There's also some sweet specials, with nachos on Mad Monday and taco Tuesday.

3. Dos Amigos Cantina - 93 Tamaki Drive, Mission Bay, Auckland

Dos Amigos Cantina in Mission Bay is right opposite the beach.

Why not sip on a cerveza while admiring one of Auckland's most iconic waterfronts?

This is a perfect spot for some delicious lunch or dinner while enjoying some drinks in the sun. You might even trick yourself into thinking you're in Cancun.

Come in and say hello to their famous sombrero wearing pet lizards.

The restaurant and cantina has a quirky ambience with Latin American theme decorations.

4. Mad Mex - all over the place

If you think Mad Mex is a generic chain of unauthentic Mexican food, think again.

The burritos at Mad Mex are unmissable.

The food is as traditional as it comes, with a range of options to chose from.

With a calming atmosphere, spacious tables and friendly staff, this place is great for grabbing a quick bite to eat while taking a breather.

5. Mexico - all over the place

Mexico has traditional Mexican decor around every corner.

The decor is what makes this restaurant appealing, with colourful candy skulls around every corner.

The best thing on the menu is the quesadillas but what lets this place down is the lack of nachos on the menu.

This restaurant is nice for a sit down meal with classic Mexican drinks, sangrias, beer and wine.

If you're up for something a bit more spicy, try the tequila tasting.
